Take the Day

[Verse 1]
Coffee cooling by the window
Shoelaces tied, the day is wide
You say later like it’s certain
I say come on, let’s take the ride

[Pre-Chorus]
We’ve got this hour in our hands
A little room to make a plan
Don’t wait for perfect skies
The good part’s happening in real time

[Chorus]
Take the day, take the whole thing
Turn the small moments into gold
Say yes while the door is open
Make a story you can hold
Take the day, don’t save it for someday
Let your heart decide the way
We’re only here for now, so
Take the day, take the day

[Verse 2]
Your old blue jacket in the backseat
A paper map we never need
We miss the turn, we find a diner
And laugh until we can’t speak

[Pre-Chorus]
We’ve got this hour in our hands
A little room to make a plan
Don’t wait for perfect skies
The good part’s happening in real time

[Chorus]
Take the day, take the whole thing
Turn the small moments into gold
Say yes while the door is open
Make a story you can hold
Take the day, don’t save it for someday
Let your heart decide the way
We’re only here for now, so
Take the day, take the day

[Bridge]
Call your sister, plant the garden
Tell the truth you’ve held inside
Take the long way home together
There’s no prize for standing by

[Final Chorus]
Take the day, take the whole thing
Turn the small moments into gold
Say yes while the door is open
Make a story you can hold
Take the day, don’t save it for someday
Let your heart decide the way
We’re only here for now, so
Take the day, take the day

[Outro]
Take the day
Take the day
