Daily Antiwhelm #9

Make It Easier

Look at your version.

The version you keep putting off. The one with too many steps. The one you can do only when you have enough time, enough energy, and the right groceries.

Maybe that version is the problem.

You made the whole thing required

You want to move your body, but your workout requires an hour and a drive.

You want dinner, but your dinner requires three pans and something finely chopped.

You want to call a friend, but you’re waiting until you have enough time for a proper catch-up.

So you do none of it.

The full version keeps winning against the version you could actually do.

Change the size of the job

Take the shorter walk. Make the dinner with fewer ingredients. Call for ten minutes.

Some things have requirements you can’t shorten away. Follow those.

But check which requirements you added yourself. Does every workout need to be an hour? Does a meal need a side dish? Does the call need to cover everything since April?

You can try an easier version before deciding you’re bad at the whole thing.

The Antiwhelm Move

Pick one thing you keep avoiding.

Is it too long, too often, or too many steps?

Shorten it. Do less. Try that version.

Dinner still counts when there’s only one pan.
