Daily Antiwhelm #17

The List Isn’t Your Life

Better job. More money. New house.

Finally relax.

You put the good part at the end of the list.

There’s always another box

You’ll enjoy yourself when the work settles down. When the move is over. When there’s more money. When the house is how you want it.

Some of those things would make life easier. Wanting them makes sense.

But you can finish one and find another waiting behind it.

The house needs something. The new job is busy. The money has another use.

“Finally” keeps getting moved.

Your life is happening before the boxes are checked.

You can live while it’s unfinished

Keep looking for the job. Save the money. Handle the house.

And have dinner with your friend before all of it is settled. Go to the beach while the kitchen still needs work. Watch the show without using it as a reward for finishing every task.

You don’t have to spend money you don’t have or ignore something due tomorrow.

But check what you’re postponing that doesn’t actually depend on finishing the list.

A walk does not require a better job. An hour with someone you love does not require a different house.

The Antiwhelm Move

Pick one thing you keep saving for when everything is done.

Does it actually need to wait?

If it doesn’t, make room for it now. Let something less important stay unfinished.

The list can wait while you have dinner.
